Gemini Enterprise MCP Setup

Set up Plushcap MCP in Gemini Enterprise with OAuth, using Business Edition or a Google Cloud custom MCP data store.

Gemini Enterprise

Connect Plushcap to Gemini Enterprise as a custom MCP server over Streamable HTTP, using OAuth. An administrator configures the connector, and users authorize access with their own Plushcap accounts. Their Plushcap plan and usage limits still apply.

This is a bring-your-own-MCP connection. Custom MCP setup and an Agent Marketplace listing are separate processes; adding this connector does not publish a marketplace listing.

Before you begin

You need a Gemini Enterprise administrator and a Plushcap account. Contact Plushcap support to request an OAuth client ID and client secret for your organization's Gemini Enterprise connection. Include the callback URL:

https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/oauth-redirect

Plushcap must register that exact callback and allow the scopes plushcap.read offline_access. Use the credentials issued by Plushcap in Google's form. A Google Cloud OAuth client or a Plushcap API key cannot replace these credentials.

PKCE is required by Plushcap. The authorization flow must use PKCE with S256, including a fresh challenge and verifier for each sign-in. Enable Enable PKCE Support where offered. Google's Business Edition guide does not currently document a PKCE control; confirm that your Business Edition flow sends PKCE before rolling it out. If it does not, use the Google Cloud setup with PKCE enabled or contact support. Static authorization URL parameters cannot substitute for PKCE.

Connection settings

Use these values in either admin setup flow:

Field Value
Name / data connector name Plushcap
Server URL / MCP Server URL https://mcp.plushcap.com/mcp
Transport Streamable HTTP
Authentication OAuth 2.0
Authorization URL https://www.plushcap.com/oauth/authorize
Token URL https://www.plushcap.com/oauth/token
Client ID Issued by Plushcap for your organization
Client Secret Issued by Plushcap for your organization
Scopes plushcap.read offline_access (space-separated)
Enable PKCE Support Enabled; S256 is required
Authorization URL Parameters Leave blank

Enter the authorization URL without query parameters. offline_access requests a refresh token; Plushcap does not need Google's access_type=offline or prompt=consent parameters. Keep the client secret in the connector's credential field.

If a description or instructions field is available, use:

Use Plushcap for developer industry trends, company engineering blogs,
content engagement, and competitor research. Retrieve sources and analytics
with read-only tools, and cite the source links returned by Plushcap.

Business Edition: Connected apps

Google labels this feature Pre-GA. Follow its Business Edition setup guide if the interface changes.

  1. Sign in to Gemini Enterprise Business Edition as a team administrator.
  2. Open Settings & help, select your team, then choose Manage team → Connected apps → Add MCP Server.
  3. Enter the server details above, choose OAuth 2.0, and fill in the authentication settings. Confirm PKCE support as described above.
  4. Select Verify Auth and authorize with Plushcap, then continue to choose the connector location and name and select Add.
  5. Enable the new connection so your team can see it; connections start disabled.

Google Cloud: custom MCP server data store

Follow Google's custom MCP data store guide. The administrator needs the Discovery Engine Editor role and organization policies that permit custom MCP data stores and egress to mcp.plushcap.com and www.plushcap.com. If data-source restrictions apply, allow custom_mcp.

  1. Open Gemini Enterprise → Data stores → Create data store in the Google Cloud console. Find Custom MCP Server and choose Add MCP server.
  2. Choose OAuth 2.0, enter the connection settings above, and enable PKCE. Select Verify Auth and complete Plushcap authorization.
  3. Continue, choose the location and connector name, and select Create.
  4. When the data store is Active, open Actions → Reload custom actions, select the Plushcap tools your team needs, and choose Enable actions. Google starts with all actions disabled and allows up to 100 enabled actions.
  5. Connect the data store to your Gemini Enterprise app if it is not already attached. Users complete Plushcap authorization when prompted.

Verify and troubleshoot

Enable search_companies, then ask Gemini Enterprise:

Use Plushcap to find the company Google Cloud and return its Plushcap link.

Confirm that Gemini calls the Plushcap tool and returns its result. You can enable additional research tools after this check.

  • Authorization fails: Check the Plushcap-issued client credentials, exact callback URL, space-separated scopes, and PKCE S256 support.
  • Plushcap is missing or no tools run: Enable the Business Edition connection, or reload and enable actions in the Cloud data store and attach it to the app. Check your organization's connector policies.
  • HTTP 401 after working previously: Reauthorize the connection. Plushcap access tokens last one hour; clients requesting offline_access receive rotating refresh tokens with a 90-day lifetime.
  • HTTP 403 for a tool: Check the signed-in user's Plushcap plan and access. Enabling a Google connector does not grant additional Plushcap permissions.

For personal Google accounts, see Gemini Web. For Google's terminal client, see Antigravity CLI.
