REPORT: 2022 Remote Work and Device Management Trends

A recent nationwide survey involving over 1,000 Americans explored current remote work and device management trends, revealing that 69% of employees are permitted to use personal devices for work, highlighting the need for clear policies to manage such practices. The survey showed that 24% of respondents work in fully remote or hybrid environments, with urban-based employees more likely to work in hybrid settings. The study identified troubleshooting as a significant challenge for employers managing devices remotely, with 25% of respondents finding it somewhat difficult, followed by security and device updates. Despite these challenges, 81% of respondents believe managing device security is relatively easy for their employers. Device preference varied, with 42% favoring Apple for mobile devices and 38% preferring PCs for work laptops, suggesting a need for multi-platform mobile device management (MDM) solutions to handle various devices. MDM can streamline remote troubleshooting and device updates, saving companies time by enabling remote software updates, configurations, and diagnostics.
