Summary

ksqlDB 0.25 expands aggregate-function support to complex data types, allowing functions such as collect_list, collect_set, earliest_by_offset, and latest_by_offset to process Structs, Arrays, and Maps in addition to primitive values. The release introduces Dynamic UDAFs, enabling developers to create user-defined aggregate functions whose aggregate and return types adapt to the input SQL type through new type-initialization methods. It also improves nested exception handling so failed functions return null to their callers, making fallback behavior with functions such as coalesce and ifnull more predictable. Additional updates include support for custom request headers in the Java client and ksql-migrations tool, as well as continuation tokens for Java client push queries, which provide at-least-once delivery semantics and allow clients to resume result streams after network interruptions.
