Summary

ClickHouse workload for Microsoft Fabric is now available in public preview as a native acceleration layer that syncs OneLake tables into dedicated ClickHouse Cloud services on Azure, targeting high-concurrency, low-latency workloads such as AI agents, interactive dashboards, and customer-facing applications. It allows Fabric users to create a ClickHouse item, provision a service through Microsoft Entra identity and workspace-role mapping, copy selected Lakehouse tables through point-in-time snapshot syncs, and run analytical SQL queries across billions of rows with sub-second performance while retaining OneLake as the source of truth. The workload offers embedded querying, connectors for Power BI, Fabric notebooks, standard protocols and language clients, and governed read-only access for Copilot Studio, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Foundry, and MCP-compatible tools. ClickHouse Cloud compute is separate from Fabric capacity, scales independently, supports Azure regional deployment and default idling, and avoids Azure egress charges for OneLake transfers. Planned enhancements include OneLake write-back, continuous replication, synchronized permissions, deeper Power BI integration, shared collaboration features, private networking, and built-in ClickHouse capabilities such as full-text search, vector search, and materialized views.
