Summary

ClickHouse announced direct write support for Apache Iceberg tables in Microsoft OneLake, allowing data produced in ClickHouse to be registered in the OneLake catalog, governed by OneLake Security, and accessed by compatible analytics tools. The integration uses ClickHouse’s DataLakeCatalog engine and Microsoft Entra ID service-principal authentication, enabling users to query existing OneLake data and publish query results or application data back into the same catalog without a separate ingestion layer. Example use cases include AI agents that analyze operational data in ClickHouse and publish anomaly reports to OneLake for use in Power BI, Fabric Spark, and other tools, as well as applications landing managed Iceberg tables directly in OneLake. OneLake provides a unified Microsoft Fabric data layer with governance, lineage, permissions, shortcuts to external storage, database mirroring, and interoperability between Iceberg and Delta Lake formats. ClickHouse plans to add write support for additional catalogs and deepen integration with OneLake’s fine-grained security APIs.
