Declan Brady just dropped a major enhancement to Userfront's JWT claims
Blog post from Userfront
Userfront Software Engineer Declan Brady has introduced a new feature that enhances the customization of JWT (JSON Web Token) access token payloads, allowing users to personalize the tokens issued when they log in. This development enables the inclusion of custom claims in JWTs, which can be used to enhance security, streamline authorization, personalize user experiences, improve efficiency, and ensure compatibility with third-party services. Previously, updates to JWT payloads were limited to individual users, but now the feature supports batch updates applicable to all users during login, without disrupting existing JWTs. Users have the flexibility to choose from four types of claims—Userfront-required, Userfront-optional, OIDC-predefined, and developer-defined—to tailor the JWT payload to their application's specific needs, ensuring secure and efficient communication. The feature also offers a user-friendly interface on the Userfront dashboard for managing and creating custom claims, supported by comprehensive documentation and a flexible pricing model.
