Windsurf Became Devin Desktop: How It Compares to Cursor

Cognition acquired Windsurf in July 2025 and relaunched it as Devin Desktop in June 2026, transforming the former agentic IDE into an Agent Command Center that can coordinate multiple local and cloud agents and support third-party agents through the Agent Client Protocol, while retiring Windsurf’s Cascade agent.
