Build with Tailscale. Build on Tailscale.
Blog post from Tailscale
Tailscale outlines an expansion from a networking tool configured around software into a platform developers can build with and automate through APIs. Its Go-based tsnet library lets individual applications join a tailnet with separate identities, MagicDNS names, ACL-controlled access, and optional HTTPS certificates, avoiding public ports, host daemons, and complex proxy or firewall setups; experimental Rust work aims to extend this model to additional languages. The Tailnets API enables organizations to provision isolated networks for customers, environments, testing, or untrusted agent workflows, while Declarative Node Sharing, currently available through a waitlist, would allow cross-tailnet sharing policies to be managed through GitOps rather than manual console actions. Tailscale also emphasizes that the same APIs behind its updated admin console can automate ACL changes, key rotation, provisioning, and fleet management, allowing development, infrastructure, IT, and security teams to incorporate secure networking into products and operational workflows.
