Supabase Pipelines is now in Public Alpha

Supabase Pipelines has entered public alpha, offering a robust solution for replicating Supabase Postgres data to external analytical systems like Google BigQuery in near real-time. This release introduces schema change support, enabling automatic updates to destination schemas when changes occur in source Postgres tables, thereby facilitating one-to-one replication without manual migrations. The platform is powered by Supabase ETL, a Rust-based change-data-capture pipeline that uses Postgres logical replication to efficiently handle data synchronization, including inserts, updates, deletes, and truncates. Supabase Pipelines aims to alleviate the load on production databases by transferring data to systems optimized for analytics, such as BigQuery, which is the first available destination. It offers a managed dashboard for pipeline management, supports parallel initial syncs, and ensures reliable data transfer even amid outages. The pricing model is based on pipeline usage and data volume, with ongoing improvements in performance and additional destination support planned.
