Self-Serve Data Quality & Data Quality Agreements
Blog post from Soda
Soda has launched new features in its Soda Cloud platform to enhance data quality management by empowering both data producers and consumers. The Self-Serve release, which is now generally available, allows users to connect to data sources such as Snowflake or MS SQL Server and establish data quality agreements, thereby democratizing the process and making it accessible irrespective of technical expertise. A particularly significant innovation is SodaCL, a YAML-based Domain-Specific Language for writing data quality checks, which aims to decentralize data management and allow users to define and maintain data quality standards. With automated dataset discovery and column profiling, users can easily get insights into their data and implement quality checks without needing deep technical skills. These advancements have been well-received by early adopters, who appreciate the increased collaboration between engineers and analysts and the ability to implement data quality measures independently. The Soda team continues to enhance its offerings, with plans to expand Soda Core to support Kafka Streaming and evolve its YAML files into data contracts, thereby further enabling organizations to achieve robust data quality.
