ClickHouse dashboards with Rill: instant, operational BI at scale

Rill has announced a new live connector for ClickHouse, a high-performance open-source database engine, to enhance the speed and interactivity of its dashboards. This integration allows users to build exploratory dashboards directly on ClickHouse tables without data ingestion or orchestration, leveraging ClickHouse's architecture for efficient handling of massive datasets. The collaboration began after a meeting with ClickHouse's creator, Alexey Milovidov, at FOSDEM, where a proof of concept demonstrated the capability to handle 480 billion records with sub-second load times. The ClickHouse connector enables OLAP queries directly on the datastore, bypassing the need for data transfer to Rill's in-memory engine, and follows a workflow involving data management in ClickHouse, metric development in Rill Developer, and dashboard sharing via Rill Cloud. With the connector now integrated into Rill's 0.41 release, the company plans to further enhance performance and introduce data modeling capabilities, inviting the community to participate and provide feedback through their Discord channel.
