How to create ultra-personalized paywalls with Apple's Foundation Models
Blog post from RevenueCat
Personalized paywalls can improve subscription conversion by using onboarding data to tailor messaging during the critical first session, when many trial cancellations occur. The example app Chorus uses RevenueCat remote paywalls and custom variables to insert basic details such as a user’s name, then applies Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework on iOS 26 or later to generate short, individualized subscription copy from structured onboarding answers about users’ walking habits, bird interests, and motivations. The approach prewarms the local language-model session, uses detailed system instructions, constrained prompts, fixed-choice inputs, fallback copy for unsupported devices or incomplete profiles, and optional output validation to limit latency, hallucinations, and unsafe content. Because Apple’s local models are smaller than cloud alternatives, they may produce inconsistent results and are not yet well suited to complex feature selection, but the framework offers private, free, no-server text generation. Future options, including cloud models supported through Foundation Models and Apple Private Cloud Compute, could enable more sophisticated personalization such as highlighting the feature most relevant to each prospective subscriber.
