Google I/O 2023: the “make more money on Android” round-up

Google I/O's recent developer conference focused heavily on AI, but for app businesses, key updates included changes in subscription management and price experiments on Android. Google Play now allows multiple base prices per billing period and opt-out price increases for existing subscribers, similar to Apple's model. Google introduced price experiment tools for one-time purchases in the Play Console, though they currently exclude subscriptions. The Play Billing Library 6 is now available, with v4 set for deprecation on November 1st. Featured products will soon enable direct in-app purchases within the Play Store, and custom store listings have been enhanced to improve targeting and engagement. Additionally, Google is integrating AI to assist with app store listing descriptions and has introduced AI features across its products, including Bard, an AI chatbot, and Studio Bot in Android Studio.
