Monitoring QuestDB with simple curl commands

QuestDB is an open-source time-series database designed for high-performance workloads, such as those found in trading floors and mission control, offering ultra-low latency, high ingestion throughput, and a multi-tier storage engine. It supports Parquet and SQL to maintain data portability and eliminate vendor lock-in, and offers Prometheus-compatible metrics for system observation. The database includes Write-Ahead Log (WAL) tables that allow for concurrent data ingestion and seamless schema changes, though they introduce "WAL lag," a delay between data logging and database commitment. Monitoring tools such as curl commands and SQL queries can track concurrent SQL queries, WAL lag, suspended tables, and table storage statistics, helping users detect anomalies and potential issues. Security for monitoring endpoints can be enhanced through basic authentication, ensuring unauthorized access is prevented and system details remain secure.
