Presenting Sentinel - Gen AI Zürich Hackathon Winner

Sentinel, developed by Ali Aoun Mehdi during the Gen AI Zürich Hackathon, is an AI-powered system designed to combat misinformation by detecting contradictions in news reports from 20 global sources every 30 minutes. It utilizes Qdrant Cloud for semantic searches to identify related articles by meaning rather than keywords and the Mistral-7B model for analyzing factual inconsistencies. The system provides a misinformation risk score and narrative traction assessment by comparing different reports on the same event, even when they use varied wording. Sentinel won the Qdrant Challenge and secured third place in the Apify Challenge, showcasing its effectiveness in addressing real-time misinformation. The technology stack includes FastAPI for the backend, React with D3.js for the frontend, and Qdrant Cloud as the vector storage and search engine, highlighting its reliance on advanced AI and vector search technologies to deliver an innovative solution for one of today's critical challenges.
