Pinecone's serverless vector database is now generally available on Microsoft Azure, joining AWS and GCP in offering a serverless cloud solution for building AI applications. The platform is designed to enhance the accuracy, scalability, and security of enterprise AI workloads, featuring new capabilities such as backups for serverless indexes and more granular access controls. Over 30,000 organizations have utilized Pinecone's serverless technology, indexing over 25 billion embeddings for various AI applications, from search to model training. Pinecone's integration with Azure OpenAI Service allows developers to build AI applications more efficiently within a unified Azure environment, enhanced by a new .NET SDK. Additional features such as the ability to bulk import data from object storage aim to simplify large-scale data ingestion, making it more cost-effective. The platform supports Azure's 'eastus2' region, with plans to expand further, and offers a comprehensive developer experience with minimal need for infrastructure management.
