Powerful Alerting: New Relic's Integration with OpsGenie

OpsGenie has integrated its SaaS-based alert notifications and mobile response capabilities with New Relic's new "alerting capabilities", providing users with better control over when alerts are generated and more features to enhance the experience of alert recipients. The integration enables users to stay connected while remote or mobile, using smartphone apps to control how and when they receive notifications. OpsGenie adds on-call schedules, multiple notification methods, automated escalations, and notification rules that empower users to control their notifications at different times of the day. Webhooks are used as an integration method between New Relic and OpsGenie, allowing for real-time HTTP(S) POSTs with JSON payload to forward New Relic alerts to external systems over the web. OpsGenie provides additional controls to prevent alert fatigue, such as suppressing or delaying notifications during deployments, giving users full control over notifications, and allowing them to define rules for notification preferences at different times of the day.
