Introducing Event Automations
Blog post from Modem
Event Automations have been introduced to Modem, enabling users to trigger actions immediately when certain events occur, rather than waiting for scheduled times. These automations can be created from the Modem app or by interacting with the Modem agent on Slack, and they utilize the same agent capabilities available in chat, including access to Modem data and connected tools like Slack, Linear, and GitHub. Users can set up automations to respond to specific events such as the creation or prioritization of topics, or the opening and merging of GitHub pull requests. For instance, when a topic becomes high priority, Modem can automatically create a Linear ticket and post updates to a Slack channel. The system includes a default event automation that emails users about high-priority topics, which can be customized or redirected to other communication channels like Slack. Users can also manually create, review, and manage automations through the app, allowing for tailored workflows that enhance organizational visibility and responsiveness.
