EID and eSIM in Miradore – more efficiency in managing your iOS devices
Blog post from Miradore
The Embedded Identity Document (EID) of an iPhone is the unique serial number of the eSIM chip, which enables mobile providers to transfer phone tariffs to devices remotely. For Miradore customers, this allows for seamless and automated device setup through Automatic Device Enrollment, eliminating the need for cumbersome tasks like requesting EIDs or sending physical SIM cards. Many mobile network operators support eSIM remote provisioning, allowing users to create a SIM profile in the backend and assign it to the device using the EID. This process facilitates the remote transfer of phone numbers and contracts to iPhones or iPads, saving time and resources. Prerequisites include a provider's technical connection to Apple's eSIM activation server, the existence of the EID in the provider's database, and internet access on the device for profile loading. Andreas Handler, a Senior Technical Consultant at Miradore, emphasizes the value of this process in enhancing efficiency with Mobile Device Management.
