Bring your own skills to the Mintlify agent
Blog post from Mintlify
Mintlify has introduced custom skills for its documentation agent, allowing users to upload folders, ZIP files, individual skill files, or Claude-exported .skill files containing instructions, references, and examples such as style guides, review checklists, page templates, and API conventions. Skills can be personal or organization-wide, with the agent selecting them based on descriptions written to match likely user requests. The announcement recommends turning recurring review feedback into focused skills for tasks like changelogs, quickstarts, documentation reviews, and API references, and highlights open-source examples from GitHub, Anthropic, Addy Osmani, and others. Effective skills should have a clear trigger description, cover one job, keep the main SKILL.md concise, rely on concrete examples and linked references, and include a self-review checklist. Custom skills are available throughout Mintlify’s agent for Pro and Enterprise plans, while users are advised to review organization-level uploads and verify applicable licenses.
