Mintlify has substantially improved editor performance for large documentation pages by reducing unnecessary rendering and serialization work, with benefits increasing as files grow from thousands to tens of thousands of lines. The update uses virtualization to render only visible content and open accordion sections, reducing some stress-test scenarios from more than 5,000 React views to two. It also introduces incremental serialization that reuses unchanged document blocks and rewrites only modified sections, accelerating first edits by up to 40 times and markdown-mode switching by up to 90 times. Further serializer changes replace quadratic processing with linear scaling by tracking lightweight output summaries instead of repeatedly scanning previously generated text, reducing a 20,000-paragraph serialization from 13.9 seconds to 69 milliseconds. Across a 25,534-line internal stress-test file, these and additional optimizations produced an overall 13-fold speedup, while larger files showed improvements of up to 160 times for initial keystrokes and around 100 times for opening 100,000-line pages.

Mintlify introduced Mentha, a new design system intended to give designers, engineers, and AI agents a consistent foundation for building products while preserving human design judgment for final decisions. The system reduces unnecessary component sizes and variants, favoring reusable patterns and carefully adding new options only when repeated needs justify them, which aims to prevent inconsistent interfaces and accelerate familiar work. Mentha also includes interaction and accessibility rules, such as avoiding hover-only actions and reserving pointer cursors for links, alongside a revised color palette that separates cool mint brand colors in product interfaces from green success states. After previously avoiding shadows, the team added four contextual elevation levels to create depth. Mintlify says detailed component constraints and instructions help agents produce more accurate starting points, although humans remain responsible for problem framing, craft, iteration, and user feedback. Mentha is now live in Mintlify’s dashboard and is planned for expansion into published documentation components.

Mintlify has introduced discounted and free Mintlify Pro programs for early-stage startups and eligible non-commercial open source projects, aiming to reduce the documentation workload for small teams and maintainers. Venture-backed startups founded within two years that have raised under $2 million and have not previously subscribed to a paid plan can receive 50% off Pro for 12 months, while current Y Combinator companies receive a year free and YC alumni receive the discount; qualifying open source projects receive Pro permanently at no cost if they are independently or community maintained, use a recognized license, and are neither revenue-funded nor controlled by a for-profit company. Pro includes documentation automations, a Slack-accessible writing agent, an AI assistant, analytics, preview deployments, API tools, translations, and monthly AI credits, while the free Starter tier retains features such as custom domains, authentication, an MCP server, and an API playground. Mintlify argues that accurate, agent-accessible documentation has become increasingly important as AI agents use product documentation to answer developer questions and generate code, citing survey results that suggest company knowledge is often fragmented across many systems and rarely optimized comprehensively for agents.
