Agent Observability is a new feature launched in the LiveKit Cloud Dashboard, designed to offer a comprehensive view of voice agent sessions by providing synchronized audio playback, transcripts, turn-by-turn traces, and logs in one interface. This tool helps diagnose issues in live conversations by allowing users to pinpoint the root causes of problems, such as latency or interruptions, which could stem from various factors including model response time, transcription errors, or network issues. With views for transcripts, traces, and logs, users can identify precise moments where issues occur, such as aggressive turn detection or slow API calls, and take corrective action. The feature is available in the v1.3+ of the Python Agents SDK, with future support for TypeScript, and offers optional recording with data retention for 30 days, while plans for localized data storage and automatic session data export are underway. Currently in beta, the feature is free for all LiveKit Cloud users until the end of the year, with future enhancements planned, including aggregate metrics and automated testing tools to further optimize agent performance.
