Series C: Towards the voice-driven era of computing
Blog post from LiveKit
LiveKit has announced its Series C funding round, achieving a $1 billion valuation with a $100 million investment led by Index Ventures, alongside contributions from Salesforce Ventures, Hanabi Capital, Altimeter, and Redpoint Ventures. The funding will support LiveKit's mission to advance voice AI technology, which is seen as a transformative interface for interacting with computers across various sectors such as healthcare, retail, and customer support. Unlike traditional web applications reliant on HTTP, voice AI applications are real-time and stateful, necessitating a complete overhaul of the tech stack for human-native interfaces. LiveKit is developing a comprehensive stack for building, testing, deploying, and observing voice AI applications, which includes tools like Agent Builder and Agent Observability to enhance development and operational insights. These applications are designed to handle complex conversational dynamics and are supported by a global network of data centers optimized for low-latency voice data transmission. As voice technology continues to evolve, LiveKit aims to make developing and scaling voice AI as straightforward as traditional web applications, anticipating that voice-native applications will become mainstream in the coming years.
