Introducing Data Apps: Build custom apps on top your governed data

Lightdash has launched the beta for Data Apps, a feature that enables users to create custom and governed data applications using the semantic layer within Lightdash. This innovation allows users to type prompts to generate apps with live data and maintain data governance through automatic application of metric definitions and access controls. Unlike traditional AI tools that may compromise data governance and transparency, Data Apps ensure that every query is visible and permissions are inherited, providing a transparent and secure experience. Early adopters have used Data Apps to build forecasting tools, live data-integrated slide decks, internal reports, and spreadsheets, benefiting from real-time data updates without manual intervention. The feature is currently available for Lightdash Cloud customers, with others encouraged to join the waitlist.
