How we renovated our data warehouse without interruption

The Data team at Hex realized that their once tidy data warehouse had become bloated and confusing as the company grew. To address this issue, they adopted a blue-green deployment strategy to renovate their warehouse iteratively without disrupting access for stakeholders. Through this process, they created more specialized schemas for faster data discovery and implemented a "least privileges" access strategy for the data warehouse. The final merge of working-main into main was satisfying, resulting in a tidier and more efficient warehome that benefited both stakeholders and AI assistants like Magic.
