Explore Profiles, now known as Profiles Drilldown, is a newly launched open-source application within the Grafana ecosystem, designed to simplify the analysis of profiling data by providing a seamless, queryless interface. This application is part of a suite of tools, including Explore Metrics and Explore Logs, aimed at enhancing data insights without requiring complex queries. Initially, Pyroscope was a standalone interface focused on performance data analysis, but since its integration with Grafana Labs, the goal has been to merge profiling with other telemetry data like logs and metrics. Explore Profiles offers features such as enhanced user experience, performance optimization, and high-level service performance views, along with the ability to drill down for detailed root cause analysis. It integrates with other tools like Span Profiles and utilizes AI for performance recommendations, leveraging key profiling concepts such as profile types, labels, and flame graphs. Although not yet available in Grafana Cloud, Explore Profiles can be installed on self-hosted Grafana instances, and users are encouraged to contribute to its development via the Explore Profiles GitHub repository.
