Summary

Grafana Cloud Synthetic Monitoring has introduced generally available folders to help organizations manage growing numbers of monitoring checks across teams, services, and environments. Using the same folder structure available for Grafana dashboards and alert rules, users can group checks, browse them more efficiently, and perform bulk actions such as enabling, disabling, moving, or deleting checks, including nested-folder checks. Checks can be assigned through the UI, gcx CLI, API, or Terraform, while unassigned API or Terraform checks are placed in the default Synthetic Monitoring folder and checks from deleted folders are automatically moved there without interruption. Folder permissions can be combined with Synthetic Monitoring roles to give teams control over their own checks while limiting access for others. Automation support includes a folder UID field in the Synthetic Monitoring API and Terraform provider version 4.37.0 or later, with Terraform detecting and correcting folder changes made outside its configuration.
