KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2021, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, featured Grafana Labs team members presenting sessions on Prometheus, Jaeger, and other cloud-native technologies. The event included discussions about Grafana Mimir, an open-source long-term storage for Prometheus, and the evolution of Prometheus to meet new use cases in the cloud-native ecosystem. Highlights included a deep dive into Jaeger, a distributed tracing backend, and tips for running Cortex, a time-series data store. The Prometheus Conformance Program was introduced to ensure compatibility and address user confusion, while updates on OpenMetrics, now an incubating CNCF project, were also shared. Additionally, a panel discussion explored the experiences of CNCF mentees and their involvement in the community through various mentorship and internship programs.
