Grafana Tempo 1.5 release: New metrics features with OpenTelemetry, Parquet support, and the path to 2.0

Grafana Tempo 1.5 introduces several significant updates, most notably the experimental support for a Parquet-based columnar store, which enhances data retrieval efficiency by reducing the amount of data needed per query and enables future development of TraceQL, a new trace query language. The release also includes usage reporting to better understand community use, as well as extensions to the metrics generator with the inclusion of queues and databases in service graph metrics, leveraging OpenTelemetry conventions.
