Transforming Paper and Plastic into a 3D Interactive Experience
Blog post from Google Cloud
StrataLogica™ is a web-based learning application developed by Roundarch in collaboration with NYSTROM Herff Jones Education Division, designed to transform educational maps and globes into an interactive 3D experience using the Google Earth API. Addressing the shift from traditional classroom tools to digital alternatives, the application wraps high-resolution map content onto Google Earth, overcoming challenges related to file size and content granularity through a custom process that converts Adobe Illustrator files into Superoverlays. Content is managed via a content management system and includes geo-referenced coordinates for interactive elements like placemark balloons, which enhance learning with supplementary audio, images, and videos. By utilizing standard web technologies alongside KML, StrataLogica™ allows for an immersive educational experience, featuring tools for marking, content authoring, and collaboration, enriching the way teachers and students engage with geographical data.
