Last month's webinar, "Why Accuracy is Everything in Device Identification," led by Fingerprint co-founder/CTO Valentin Vasilyev and Head of Product Jack Spirou, emphasized the critical importance of device fingerprinting accuracy, highlighting the superior performance of Fingerprint Pro over the open-source FingerprintJS library. While FingerprintJS is a popular JavaScript library for browser fingerprinting with over 17,000 GitHub stars, it lacks the server-side identification methods and machine learning capabilities that make Fingerprint Pro more accurate. This accuracy is crucial for businesses, especially in fraud detection, as it prevents the misidentification of returning devices over time. The Pro version maintains a 98% accuracy rate after four months, compared to competitors whose accuracy may plummet, potentially missing nearly 90% of returning devices, a phenomenon known as "drift." High accuracy in device identification helps businesses mitigate online payment fraud by consistently identifying repeat offenders, while lower accuracy could result in frequent misidentifications and increased challenges for trusted customers.
