Data Policies: fine-grained access control for encrypted data

Evervault has introduced Data Policies, a new feature designed to enhance the security and control of sensitive data by allowing users to set specific conditions for data decryption, such as request regions, timestamps, or IP addresses. These policies are embedded at the time of encryption, ensuring that data can only be decrypted for its intended purpose, thus minimizing the risk of misuse. This approach adds a significant layer of security beyond traditional encryption methods that rely solely on key possession, as it prevents unauthorized data access even if encryption keys are compromised. Data Policies provide a flexible and granular control mechanism that can be tailored to various security workflows, enabling businesses to securely manage and access sensitive data within their infrastructure. This new feature complements Evervault’s existing suite of security tools, including Audit Logging and User Access Control, offering a comprehensive framework for secure and compliant data management.
