Generative AI for Good brings survivor testimony to the UN
Blog post from ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs, through its Impact Program, partnered with Generative AI for Good to launch "Hearing Their Voices" at the United Nations in Geneva, aiming to help survivors of conflict-related sexual violence safely share their stories using anonymized AI-generated voices. This initiative, co-organized by UNITAR and the Kigali Genocide Memorial, gathered leaders from policy, technology, and human rights sectors to explore how ethical AI can aid peace-building and survivor protection. The project underscores the importance of documenting survivor testimonies, which are crucial for informing prevention, accountability, and recovery efforts, while ensuring the safety and anonymity of participants. By providing access to their voice technology, ElevenLabs supports the creation of a secure storytelling pipeline that maintains the authenticity of narratives while protecting identities. This initiative is part of a broader mission to apply AI responsibly in human rights, documentation, and peace-building, offering a model for ethical AI use that can influence global policy and stability.
