ElevenLabs and UK Government partner on voice AI safety research
Blog post from ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs has entered a three-year partnership with the UK Government to study the societal and security implications of AI voice technology, aiming to understand how people perceive and interact with AI agents. This collaboration involves research conducted by the UK AI Security Institute to explore the ability of individuals to distinguish between human and AI agents during conversations and how this awareness affects their behavior and information disclosure. The partnership, which includes providing the UK Government access to ElevenLabs' advanced voice models, is part of a broader effort to embed comprehensive safeguards in AI products and establish safety standards to prevent misuse, such as blocking the cloning of political and celebrity voices. The initiative underscores the UK's leadership in AI safety and ElevenLabs' commitment to responsible AI deployment, exemplified by the recent launch of ElevenLabs for Government, which supports public sector organizations in delivering multilingual services and is already in use by early adopters like the Government of Ukraine.
