Innovating DigitalOcean Managed Databases: Our H1 Progress and Improvements

In the first half of 2025, DigitalOcean introduced a series of updates and innovations to its Managed Databases offerings, enhancing their capability and scalability. Key advancements included support for PostgreSQL v17 and MongoDB v8, both of which brought significant improvements in performance, scalability, and security. The storage capacity for Managed MySQL and PostgreSQL was doubled to 20TB and 30TB, respectively, expanding their availability across multiple regions. DigitalOcean also launched a new Managed Caching service for Valkey, offering a Redis-compatible in-memory datastore, and introduced Role-Based Access Control for MongoDB to streamline access management. Additional developments included enhanced database observability with Datadog integration, resource alerts, and trusted source IP labeling, as well as support for Kafka Schema Registry. These updates aim to provide developers with powerful tools to build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure applications.
