Catching Up With KillrVideo

KillrVideo is a reference application for learning and using DataStax Enterprise (DSE) and related technologies like Apache Cassandra. It's not just a demo or toy; it's a real, working application that allows users to upload, watch, rate, and comment on videos while also serving as a great learning tool. The architecture of KillrVideo follows a three-tiered approach with web applications, services tier, and database tier. It uses microservices and adopts best practices for distributed applications in general. The application is currently hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is one of the first clients of DataStax Managed Cloud. KillrVideo also features a recommendation engine using DSE Graph, which provides users with personalized video recommendations based on their viewing history and preferences. Future updates to the application include additional recommendation engine implementations, more Studio notebooks for interacting with KillrVideo data, and the ability to switch between different recommendation algorithms.
