A survey involving 231 respondents from sectors such as SaaS, Finance, Consumer Internet, AI, Cloud, and Retail, primarily from mid-to-large-sized companies, revealed key insights about data production and consumption trends. Data quality and reliability emerged as critical metrics for data teams, yet most face significant challenges due to inadequate data observability tools and processes. A notable 80% of respondents frequently encounter data quality issues, with 75% attributing these problems to other teams or third-party vendors, underscoring the need for a company-wide approach to data quality management. Furthermore, 51% of those surveyed reported insufficient processes and tools to tackle these issues, with many still relying heavily on manual data checks. Despite the prevalence of SQL as a primary data interface and the stability of BI tools, the survey highlights a pressing need for improved data quality solutions and inter-team collaboration.
