Mario Hall, a product designer at Lyft, shared his story and experiences in the industry. He started by mentioning that he was honored to share his path with Stephen, and then discussed how he transitioned from Microsoft and Square to Cymbal, a music startup where he learned about design and building a business. Mario talked about how he got into design through a program at Tufts University and how he had to learn quickly as an intern at Microsoft. He also shared his experience with Cymbal, including the challenges of raising money and shutting down the company after a year. After Cymbal, Mario joined Lyft and discussed how he has been able to work on various projects, from UI/UX design to research and safety initiatives. He emphasized the importance of strategic thinking and product thinking in his role at Lyft and offered advice for young designers, including staying passionate, proactive, and building relationships with no expectations.
