Summary

Kafka Summit London 2022 marked the Apache Kafka community’s first in-person gathering in more than two years, taking place over two days at the InterContinental London near the O2. The event featured 60 keynotes, breakout sessions, new lightning talks, and optional training, with subjects including eBPF-based Kafka monitoring, disaster recovery on Kubernetes, Kafka Streams scalability, geo-replication, data mesh, cost reduction, Kafka Connect, and topic IDs. Beyond presentations, attendees could network through informal “hallway track” conversations, meet sponsors on the expo floor, collect custom event merchandise, attend a Monday evening party, and join an unofficial 5K run or walk. Participants could use the event mobile app or iCal feed to manage their schedules, while people unable to attend in person could register for a free Streaming Pass to watch livestreamed keynotes and selected sessions; all sessions were also to be recorded and made freely available afterward.
