ClickStack's December update introduces a significant feature enhancement, focusing on the smarter integration of Materialized Views within the HyperDX UI to improve performance and scalability. Materialized Views, now directly creatable in ClickHouse, can be linked to a source and utilized by the Query Layer to enhance the speed and efficiency of charts, searches, and dashboards. This feature allows for automatic selection of the most efficient view for each query, leveraging the EXPLAIN ESTIMATE clause to minimize data scanning and deliver faster responses. Though currently in beta, the feature aims to lower operational costs and optimize performance, even at large scales, by computing only incremental changes to views as new data arrives. This advancement marks a step forward in user configurability and workflow optimization, with plans to introduce more automation based on user behavior in future updates.
