Summary

ClickHouse has released an official upstream Apache Airflow provider, apache-airflow-providers-clickhousedb, simplifying orchestration of ClickHouse ingestion, transformation, and analytical workflows in self-managed Airflow and managed services such as Astronomer. Built on the ClickHouse Connect HTTP(S) client and Airflow’s common SQL framework, the provider supports standard SQLExecuteQueryOperator tasks for DDL, DML, and queries, while ClickHouseHook enables bulk inserts, streaming, and direct client-specific operations. The release provides an officially maintained upgrade path from the widely adopted community airflow-clickhouse-plugin created by Anton Bryzgalov, whose work established many conventions for ClickHouse-Airflow integrations. ClickHouse cites production use across customers and internally, including Astronomer’s Astro Observe platform, Chartmetric’s high-volume playlist pipeline, and ClickHouse’s own warehouse, where Airflow coordinates 76 DAGs and more than 40 sources processing roughly 6 billion rows daily. Users can install the provider with pip, configure a ClickHouse connection through the Airflow interface or environment variables, and deploy the same setup locally or through Astro, with TLS connections typically using port 8443 and secure mode enabled.
