Postgres week in the Netherlands: PGDay Lowlands & Percona Live 2026
Blog post from ClickHouse
A three-day Netherlands trip included presentations at PGDay Lowlands in Utrecht and Percona Live Amsterdam, despite a nationwide public transport strike ending just before the first event. At PGDay Lowlands, the author delivered a five-minute talk on ClickHouse’s open-source PostgreSQL extensions: pg_clickhouse, which lets existing PostgreSQL queries access and push analytical workloads to ClickHouse through foreign tables, and pg_stat_ch, which records detailed per-query execution history in ClickHouse without delaying PostgreSQL. The conference also featured lightning talks on speaking, partitioning, encryption, and conference music, alongside a session on PostgreSQL plan stabilization tools that constrain the planner to preserve known plans. At Percona Live, a multi-database event, the author presented PostgreSQL 19 monitoring enhancements, including expanded logging, WAL and I/O statistics, wait events, new recovery and lock views, multixact statistics, and revised transaction wraparound warnings, while noting future monitoring work planned for PostgreSQL 20.
