Summary

ClickHouse announced several developments aimed at integrating PostgreSQL transactional workloads with ClickHouse analytics through a unified cloud stack. ClickHouse Managed Postgres, now in private preview on Google Cloud as well as AWS, provides PostgreSQL on local NVMe or GCP Local SSD storage, high-availability features, native change data capture into ClickHouse, and the open-source pg_clickhouse extension for querying ClickHouse from PostgreSQL. The company also introduced WalShadow, an open-source physical-WAL replication engine that copies PostgreSQL changes to ClickHouse with reported sub-second latency and higher throughput than its logical-replication-based predecessor PeerDB, while supporting schema changes and a managed private-preview option. A live demonstration showed WalShadow maintaining low replication lag during high-volume trading simulations and identifying a simulated anomaly faster than a ClickPipes pipeline. In addition, the new chdb PostgreSQL extension uses the embedded ClickHouse engine to improve PostgreSQL imports and exports involving cloud object storage and formats such as Parquet, Avro, ORC, Arrow, and Protobuf.
