In a comprehensive benchmark comparing major cloud data warehouses—Snowflake, Databricks, ClickHouse Cloud, BigQuery, and Redshift—across datasets of 1 billion, 10 billion, and 100 billion rows, ClickHouse Cloud consistently provided superior cost-performance. The study utilized Bench2Cost, an open-source benchmarking pipeline, to ensure accurate cost comparisons by applying each vendor's real compute billing rules. While storage costs were analyzed, the focus remained on compute costs due to their greater impact on analytical workloads. The analysis revealed that as data scales, most systems drift towards higher costs and slower performance, with ClickHouse Cloud standing out as the only system maintaining efficiency and low cost across all scales. The findings are supported by an interactive benchmark explorer, which allows users to delve into the detailed results and configurations. The study highlights ClickHouse Cloud's resilience and cost-effectiveness, especially at larger data scales, contrasting with the limitations faced by other platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks at their maximum configurations.
