Summary

Ridgeline adopted ClickHouse Cloud to scale performance analytics for its unified investment management platform after Postgres could no longer support increasingly complex, data-intensive reporting for much larger asset-management customers. The company selected ClickHouse over alternatives including Redshift, SingleStore, Trino with Iceberg, and custom in-memory systems because of its combination of analytical speed, cost efficiency, security, and managed operational capabilities. Ridgeline stores recent accounting and replicated vendor data in ClickHouse, retains extensive historical data in Iceberg accessed through ClickHouse, and uses materialized views to create optimized reporting datasets. The architecture has reduced report-generation batches from hours to minutes, enabled near-immediate report revisions, supported customers roughly 10 times larger than previously possible, and more than doubled the number of customers on the platform. Ridgeline is now considering ClickHouse for additional near-real-time analytics and reconciliation workloads as it prepares to support even larger customers.
