How Fountain rebuilt its data plane on ClickHouse Cloud to power Cue, the Frontline Superintelligence

Fountain replaced its multi-vendor, batch-oriented analytics stack based on database replication, S3/Iceberg, and BigQuery with ClickHouse Cloud and ClickPipes to support Cue, its agentic AI platform for frontline hiring operations. The new architecture continuously streams data from Postgres and MongoDB into ClickHouse, uses native JSON for nested MongoDB documents, and applies more than 2,000 incremental materialized views to transform data without external orchestration. This reduced data-refresh latency from three hours to under two minutes, with most queries completing in under a second, while lowering operating costs by about 66%. Fountain also shifted expensive calculations, including transition-time window functions, to ingestion-time transformations, reducing query memory use by 60–98%, and implemented database-level role-based access controls and row policies intended to prevent Cue’s LLM from accessing or influencing tenant security rules. The platform now supports billions of CDC and analytics rows across 15 deployments, and Fountain plans to extend its real-time semantic data model to internal teams through an MCP-based interface.
