Data mesh is more philosophically and organizationally oriented than data fabric, which is driven by technical considerations. The framework has potential but is still in an early emerging stage with many weaknesses and challenges unknown. It can enable a wide range of use cases, including customer 360, marketing, data privacy, IoT device monitoring, AI and machine learning training, IT and DevOps, loss prevention, and M&A.
