AI Gateway for Developers: What Teams Are Building on Live Enterprise Data
Blog post from CData
CData Connect AI is presented as a managed enterprise AI gateway based on the Model Context Protocol that connects AI agents to production data while controlling authentication, agent-level access scopes, and request-level auditing. Its passthrough identity model forwards each user’s credentials to supported sources such as Salesforce and BigQuery at query time, allowing existing source-system permissions, including sharing rules and row- or column-level security, to determine what an agent can access rather than relying on shared service accounts. Organizations can use the platform for natural-language business-data assistants, scheduled data-quality and anomaly monitors, or a centralized data layer shared by multiple internal agents, with workspaces and toolkits limiting each agent’s available data and tools. The text recommends a gradual deployment approach that begins with read-only access, progresses to human-approved actions, and reserves autonomous writes for low-risk or reversible operations. Connect AI also supports hundreds of connectors, standard MCP-compatible models and frameworks, SIEM-exportable audit logs, and, as of March 2026, SCIM 2.0 synchronization with Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, and Ping Identity alongside custom OAuth application support.
