Meta recently released Buck2, a rewritten build tool in Rust with backward compatibility features. The pros of Buck2 include an incredible CLI UX and first-class Remote Execution support. However, it currently lacks Build Telemetry and has no Repository Phase for external dependencies. While the performance is impressive, Buck2 still has some foot guns that need to be addressed before it can replace typical enterprise build tools like Bazel.
