BELL: The personal assistant stack
Blog post from Browserbase
BELL is a reference architecture and sample application for building personal assistants that can complete real-world tasks such as ordering coffee through a text conversation. It combines Linq for reliable messaging across platforms like iMessage and RCS, Eve for defining agent instructions and coordinating tools, and Browserbase for navigating websites designed for human users. The architecture addresses pauses for user credentials or payment approval through checkpointed execution, while Web Bot Auth and Baselayer help merchants verify both the operating agent and the customer behind a transaction. 1Password provides scoped credential access without revealing secrets to the model, and Stripe Link enables user-approved, purchase-specific payment credentials, with Visa Intelligent Commerce and Trusted Agent Protocol supporting safe recognition of agent-initiated purchases. Together, these layers handle messaging, planning, browser automation, authentication, identity verification, and payments before returning order details to the user in the original conversation.
